New Executive Director

Sole City Dance is pleased to welcome Ms. Alexandra Poulis as the new Executive Director of Sole City Dance. We are excited to begin working with Alex as she brings her enthusiasm and passion for Sole City’s mission and goals to the position.  We are confident that the faculty, staff and board will support her in this new role and her presence will provide a strong new chapter in Sole City Dance’s contributions to the community.

Alexandra or Alex, as she’s also known, has been teaching all forms of dance at area studios for nearly a decade. Her dance training began locally including classes at Ballet New England where she studied modern, jazz, and ballet. She then continued her dance career at UNH where she choreographed and performed in student run dance and aerial showcases in addition to being a member of the UNH Dance Company. Alex graduated from UNH with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the Field Of Study Communication, General and Theatre with an Emphasis in Dance.

Alex brings hands on management and customer focused skills from her past positions at Warren’s Lobster House and The Works Fitness and Health Center. She is also the owner of her own successful health focused business Getting Fit with Alex, LLC based in Rochester. Her desire to see Sole City Dance stand out in the seacoast was evident in the ideas she expressed during her interview process such as growing the student dance company, Solstice, and looking for ways to make the organization more financially streamlined so the focus can be on the students and making dance accessible and affordable for anyone who’d like to learn. The Board was energized by her enthusiasm and readiness to take up the mantle recently handed over by founder and previous director Christine Hounsell. Honoring Christine’s goals is high on Alex’s priorities but she’s looking to make her own impact on the future of the studio as well.

We here at Sole City Dance are excited to have Alex stepping into this role and look forward to seeing where we will go under her leadership. Congratulations and welcome!
