Musical Theatre

Welcome to Sole City’s new Musical Theatre program!  2016-17 Offerings:
Acting a Song (2 levels – Beg/Adv Beg and Int/Adv*)

*Int/Adv requires instructor permission

This class will focus on vocal technique and expression through song. Students will discuss the story of the song as shared through the lyrics and melody and the context of the song within the show as a whole. Some movement may be included, but the class is designed to be taken with “Fundamentals of Dance” (or other dance technique classes) to further the dance skills of the performer.

Fundamentals of Dance (2 age groups – 7 to 10 y.o. and 11+)

This class will teach the fundamentals of the three most common styles of dance used in musical theatre: ballet, jazz, and tap. Some level of mastery of these three forms is necessary to increase opportunities and is required for many roles. Designed to be taken with “Acting a Song”, this class will help a performer reach “triple threat” status!
