Gay Nardone to be Honored at Sole City Fundraising Gala

nardoneNot many New Hampshire residents can say they have danced at both Radio City Music Hall and with the famed June Taylor Dancers of The Jackie Gleason Show, much less claim they have choreographed dozens of musicals, operas, and dance concerts. UNH’s own Gay Nardone can make that claim, and her 30 years’ dedication to dance will be feted soon.

“Gay’s impact on the dance arts in the Seacoast region has been tremendous,” says Sole City Dance’s Executive Director, Christine Hounsell. “Her work with students at UNH deserves recognition. Those students have gone on to spread the spirit and technique of the dance arts throughout the region and beyond.

The Sole City Dance Board of Trustees agreed and chose Nardone as their first “Area Artist of the Year” honoree. “Gay’s an example of someone who has inspired hundreds of people to excel in the art of dance and share it with others in performance or through teaching,” stated Sole City Trustee and Gala Committee Chair, Christine McCluskey.

Nardone’s students include film and TV fixture Mike O’Malley (Yes, Dear, Glee) and other actors, as well as Broadway and film dancer, Jack Hayes (Center Stage, The Producers) and many others. Her students perform internationally and teach in studios, colleges and conservatories across the country. “She’s phenomenal in that she loves what she does and embraces her students with enthusiasm, discipline and humor,” says Hounsell, also a former student.

Sole City Dance will honor Nardone at their “For the ART of It” Fundraising Gala, Saturday, September 26th at 6:00 pm at The Governor’s Inn ballroom in Rochester. This will be an evening of music, dance, and refreshments as well as a silent auction to raise funds for programs and scholarships at Sole City Dance, a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts education organization located in Somersworth. Tickets to the gala are $25 and are available at Sole City, by calling 603-750-7777 or clicking HERE. If your business would like to sponsor the event or make a donation to the auction, call or write cmccluskey@solecitydance.org.
