Cancellations by SCD:
We make every effort possible not to cancel classes. If a cancellation must occur due to weather or instructor illness, the class will be made up. On rare occasions, and if a make-up is deemed impossible, tuition credit may be given at the discretion of the administration.
Generally, February and April school vacation weeks are used to make up any cancelled classes that have occurred to date. If you do not come to the scheduled make-up, please speak to your instructor about another appropriate make-up class. Tuition credit is not given when a make-up class is offered.
Sole City Dance does NOT follow local school department weather cancellations. Due to weather predictions and conditions that can change over the course of just a few hours, we make a decision to cancel as close to class times as we can. A decision is made about MORNING classes one hour before they begin and AFTERNOON classes are determined by 2:30pm.
We will notify families through email and/or text message. If you are unsure, please call the studio or check our Facebook page before coming to class on days with inclement weather. We do not call people individually unless the cancellation is for an unexpected reason. You can sign up to receive text messages about cancelled classes by visiting your online account or stopping by the front desk.
Make Up Policies for Student Illness or Injury:
Make-up classes are allowed but must be scheduled in advance. Please speak with your instructor to determine an appropriate make-up class and with the front desk for confirmation.
Class size policy:
Classes with fewer than 5 students enrolled are subject to cancellation. Any deposits or remaining tuition will be refunded. Smaller classes may run at an increased tuition rate if enrolled students are interested.
Additionally, if fewer than 4 students are present for any class, the time will be adjusted as follows:
- 3 students in attendance: 75% of regular time
- 2 students: 50% of regular time
- 1 student: Student may choose whether to stay for a class of 50% length or cancel class & be given credit
Waiting Room/Classroom Etiquette:
Sole City Dance offers serious educational programs. As such, we expect students to be focused and ready to learn when in class. Students must maintain a respectful and attentive attitude toward instructors at all times.
In support of that, we also ask for a calm atmosphere in the waiting area and dressing rooms as students prepare for class. Please encourage younger students and siblings to read, color, or play quietly while in the waiting area. Running or loud noise of any kind will not be tolerated.
Senior Dance Policies:
Every year senior dancers (12th grade) will meet with the director and faculty members to discuss plans for a Senior Dance to be performed at the Annual Student Dance Concert. Dancers can chose to do a self-choreographed solo, duet, trio, or group dance.
